Pinellas County Unveils Updated Flood Info Website
With several low-lying areas and the ever-present threat of severe weather, flooding is always a concern for those living in Pinellas County. An updated website gives residents the resources to find the information they need and the contacts they want.
Issues that are covered on the flooding website include: floodplain management, flood maps and zones, flood warning systems, instructions on what to do in case flooding should occur, safety issues and more.
It's all on the flooding website. David Walker of the Pinellas County Planning Department encourages all residents to take a few minutes to view the easy-to-use website and become familiar with the many issues. Walker notes the website is "meant to be a portal for information not only on floods but on such related topics as ponds and drainage."
One area of particular interest has to do with flood insurance, since most homeowners insurance policies don't include flood coverage. There are also links to several other important and useful websites such as the National Weather Center and the National Hurricane Center.
Another helpful tool is the Pinellas County Surviving the Storm hurricane guide. It features useful information regarding severe weather to enable residents to make informed decisions regarding storms and flooding.
