Cross Bayou Canal—Northeastern Entrance

The Northeastern Entrance of the Cross Bayou Canal was widened during WWII by the government to accomodate hydroplanes that might land there.  Dredges opened it to a width of 200 feet and deepened the water so seaplanes could come in.
