Ben T. Davis, Cypress Point beaches now safe for swimmers
Update, 3/6/2013:
The Hillsborough County Health Department has lifted its advisory, announcing it is now safe to swim at Ben T. Davis and Cypress Point beaches in Tampa.
TAMPA — Health officials are warning bathers to stay out of the water at Ben T. Davis and Cypress Point beaches because of a high concentration of bacteria.
The water has too much enterococci bacteria, according to the Hillsborough County Health Department, and is a potential risk to the public.
The levels are above the amount deemed acceptable by the Environmental Protection Agency. Hillsborough County officials will resample the water Monday. When the bacteria levels are in an acceptable range, officials will lift the advisory.
