Air Potato Picking Time On Gandy Blvd.!

What a great way to start the Tampa Bay Estuary Program "Give a Day for the Bay" season by volunteering to remove the evil invasive air potatoes on Gandy in St. Petersburg!

As part of this project a large area of air potato (Dioscorea bulbifera) vines and leaves were treated. We need volunteers to help pick up the air potatoes to help prevent new growth.

The Ecosystem Restoration Project is a Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) program sponsored project of the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). The project property is owned by the SWFWMD and managed by Pinellas County Parks and Recreation Services. The purpose of the project is to reduce the non-native and nuisance vegetation and plant native species to provide a greater diversity of habitat for local and migratory wildlife.

Please click on the link below to register or RSVP. Please join the Tampa Bay Estuary Program and other volunteers at Gandy to compete for the air potatoes contest on October 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
