Hear all about hurricane preparedness June 5th
The Atlantic hurricane season is officially from June 1 to Nov. 30 and while the weather can be hard to predict, residents should be prepared for the worst.
One only has to look back to 1992 to see the devastating effects a hurricane can produce. In August of that year, Hurricane Andrew hit Florida causing about $25 billion in damage and 44 deaths. It was one of the costliest disasters in U.S. history.
That’s why hurricane preparedness is the featured topic Thursday, June 5, on There’s No Place Like Home, the radio show sponsored by the Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County.
The featured guest is Tom Iovino, public information specialist with Pinellas County Communications, who provides helpful hurricane preparedness tips for residents along with resources and information available to weather a storm.
The program, which features different issues each month, is sponsored by the Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County. It airs the first Thursday of each month from 10:05 to 10:35 a.m. on WRXB 1590 AM. The show can also be watched on Pinellas County Connection Television, YouTube, or view online.
